EMDR INTENSIVES
EMDR Intensives: Focused Healing for When You're Ready to Go Deeper
What Is an EMDR Intensive?
An EMDR Intensive is a focused therapy experience that provides more time, space, and support than a traditional weekly session. Instead of 50 minutes once a week, intensives are offered in extended blocks—such as half-day or full-day sessions—so you can work through stuck points without interruption.
This format is designed for people who are ready to engage in deeper healing in a safe, contained, and supportive environment.
Who Is a Good Fit for an EMDR Intensive?
You may benefit from an EMDR Intensive if:
Weekly therapy hasn’t been able to get to the root of your challenges
You are managing life, but still carry anxiety, overwhelm, or trauma responses
You appear high-functioning on the outside, but feel exhausted on the inside
You’ve done meaningful work, yet certain memories or patterns continue to resurface
You want more than coping—you want clarity, relief, and lasting change
Whether you are navigating the impact of a single event or the long-term effects of complex trauma, intensives create space for your nervous system to settle and begin releasing what has been carried for too long.
Why Work With Me
As a Certified EMDR Therapist, I specialize in helping clients move through trauma, chronic stress, and complex PTSD with care, precision, and respect for their pace. My approach integrates EMDR with complementary methods, including:
Parts Work – to gently engage with and support the parts of you that carry fear, pain, or protective strategies
Sandtray Therapy – to access and process what may not be easily expressed through words
Trauma-Informed Acupuncture – to regulate the body, calm the nervous system, and deepen emotional processing
You will never be asked to move faster than what feels safe. Together, we’ll honor your story, your capacity, and your goals while pacing the work in a way that supports meaningful healing.
If You’re Feeling Stuck, You’re Not Alone
Many people who come to me for intensives share thoughts such as:
“I’ve been in therapy for years. Why do I still feel like this?”
“I’m doing everything I can—and I’m still overwhelmed.”
“I just want to feel like myself again.”
EMDR Intensives are often a good fit in these moments—when you’re ready to slow down, go deeper, and move through what has been holding you back. This isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about reconnecting with who you were before trauma and stress got in the way.
Backed by Research
EMDR therapy has been extensively researched and shown to be effective for PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, and adverse life experiences. The intensive format builds on this foundation by allowing extended time for the brain and body to process without the stop-and-start rhythm of weekly therapy.
Research suggests that intensive trauma-focused therapy can lead to:
Clearer thinking and a greater sense of calm
Reduced emotional reactivity and physical symptoms
Increased ability to connect and be present
Lasting change after fewer total sessions
The intensive approach has also been found to reduce the risk of dropout and may be more time-efficient than traditional weekly sessions.
Intensive application of trauma-focused therapy seems to be well tolerated in patients with PTSD, enabling faster symptom reduction with similar, or even better, results, while reducing the risk that patients drop out prematurely. Learn more here and here.
Intensive EMDR treatment is feasible and is indicative of reliable improvement in PTSD symptoms in a very short time frame. Learn more here.
An intensive program using EMDR therapy is a potentially safe and effective treatment alternative for complex PTSD. Learn more here.
The economy is compelling: even compared to other trauma therapy, the intensive format may decrease treatment time, because of time not spent on a) checking in at the beginning of each session, b) addressing current crises and concerns, c) focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after trauma healing, or d) assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session.
